An employee at a desirable east end daycare has been charged with sexually assaulting two young girls and suspended from his job.
The allegations against Toronto-resident James Jim Mallais, 38, stem from 2004 when he was an employee at the Selwyn Community Daycare Centre. He has been charged with two counts each of sexual exploitation, sexual interference and sexual assault.
Mr. Mallais is an employee at the Jackman Daycare Centre near Danforth and Broadview Avenues, which has earned top marks from the City of Toronto's Children's Services Division.
A letter that went home with parents at Jackman states that the allegations do not involve any students at the daycare or its host, Jackman Avenue Public School.
"Staff will co-operate with police in its [sic]investigation in any way we can and Mr. Mallais will not be at our school, pending outcome of the matter," the letter reads.
