A 70-year-old Toronto man has been charged in a case of child molestation that is alleged to have occurred decades ago.
Two woman, both girls under the age of 10 at the time, say they were abused between 1975 and 1982 and recently came forward to police, said Constable Wendy Drummond.
The man, Jon James Maillard, was an active member of the now-defunct West Rouge Community Church on Port Union Road near Highway 401 in the far-eastern end of Scarborough.
Police would not say if Mr. Maillard met the two women through the church, but said it may have been a place where he came into contact with children.
Mr. Maillard faces a count of committing an indecent act in relation to each victim and a single count of sexually assaulting one of the victims.
