Toronto police say despite thousands of hours of investigation they are no further ahead in the case of a girl who went missing one year ago today.

Mariam Makhniashvili was 17 when she disappeared after arriving at Forest Hill Collegiate on Sept. 14, 2009.

Det.-Sgt. Dan Nealon, the lead investigator, says there is no evidence to suggest she was abducted or lured for a "nefarious activity."

He says there is also nothing to suggest she was suicidal, that she ran away, or that she was the victim of some accident.

Det.-Sgt. Nealon says he knows someone knows something and is urging them to come forward with information and claim the $10,000 reward.

Staff Insp. Larry Sinclair says this is the most complex missing person investigation he has been involved with in 40 years of policing.
