A Toronto police officer is in hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a car overnight in the downtown area.
Constable Clint Stibbe told CP24 the injured officer was hit at about 2:20 a.m. after he left his vehicle to close an intersection near at Bathurst and Front for a film shoot .
He says the unidentified officer suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries after the impact of the collision caused him to go through the car's windshield.
Const. Stibbe says it is too early in the investigation to say if charges will be laid against the 38-year-old man driving the car.
A collision reconstruction team remains on the scene and Const. Stibbe says the intersection will likely be closed until after the morning rush hour.
