The discovery of a body in a west-end alley has now become a homicide case, police said Monday night.

Results from an autopsy conducted earlier in the day found that George (Jerzy) Rucinski of no fixed address died from blunt force impact trauma.

At 7:23 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a call about a suspicious death in the area off Boustead Ave., between Roncesvalles and Alhambra avenues.

There they found the body of 59-year-old Mr. Ruckinski.

Reports say the man was an amputee and that a wheelchair was found not next to the body, but nearby. It was initially thought to be connected to the death, though others in the neighbourhood said it belonged to someone else.

To aid with any clues they might glean from autopsy results, police want to speak with anyone who might have information about Mr. Rucinski or what led to his death.
