Move over, protein. Fibre is having a moment right now, ushering in an era of “fibremaxxing,” in which enthusiasts increase (and often go far beyond) their recommended daily intake. We don’t recommend that. What we do recommend is looking for simple ways to get fibre into your diet, including upping your intake of pulses such as lentils, beans and chickpeas. Try this week’s recipe for bean-boosted bread, which incorporates pureed white kidney or navy beans into your bread for a boost.

If you have a question on wine, e-mail it and we’ll answer a selection in the newsletter and on our website. Please share this newsletter, and if it was forwarded to you, sign up for this and other Globe and Mail lifestyle and arts newsletters.
