I recently went to the movies to see a Canadian indie film I knew nothing about. It was the most fun I’d had in theatres in years.

Since then, the movie has surpassed $1 million in national box offices – a huge feat for a local film.

As we celebrate international (and largely American) filmmaking at the Oscars this weekend, it’s nice to see theatres fill up for something so Canadian.
