Re Bumper Cars, À La Française (Travel, March 13): Some years ago in Trieste, I watched a tiny Fiat stop in the middle of a narrow street opposite the gap between two parked cars. Like the parking spaces in your article, this one appeared impregnable until four burly guys squeezed out of the Fiat, took positions at each corner, lifted the car into the spot and walked away. Mission accomplished and no bam, bam, bam.
