Kind of funny to see the story about Canadians wanting a leaner public sector (Canadians Back Public-Sector Cuts As Deficit-Fighting Tool - March 15) next to the story about a rising number of listeriosis cases (Questions Raised About Gap In Food Inspection Cases).

Makes you wonder whether these people think food inspection is part of the "government waste" they want trimmed? The less you know about something, the easier it is to say it's not needed. Opinion polls are a classic case of pooled ignorance.
