Re Canada's role in Haiti (Editorial, April 3). Haitians were killed when the earthquake knocked down their buildings. Canada should help them build earthquake-resistant buildings.

Wood frame houses are a good start. Strong concrete with reinforcement steel is even better. The best thing that Canada can do to help Haitians is to supply lumber and rebar, and to teach them Canadian building standards for these materials. It's not rocket science.
