Despite the initial legal successes of a man who may benefit financially in court from being blinded by the sun and taking a ball in the face, we don't want a society that commences lawsuits for the silliest of reasons (Ballplayer Looks For Gold Over Sunshine At Diamond - Front Page, April 3).

Everybody who plays outdoor sports accepts that sun, wind and rain are factors. Why should Dofasco, a company kind enough to build a baseball diamond and community centre at its expense, be put at the additional expense of defending a lawsuit for someone else's athletic shortcomings?
