The action

Agent Raymond Chin anticipated it would take months to sell this five-bedroom house, judging by how long it took other homes in the area north of the Ottawa International Airport. After a slow start with few visitors, the seller got an offer two weeks in and agreed to knock $15,000 off the list price to finalize a deal.

“There was a house down the street on the market before us and stayed on the market after we had sold,” said Mr. Chin.

“Anyone who wanted to buy in this neighbourhood would have seen both homes, but the configuration and how this home was presented was different.”

For instance, a bedroom on the main floor can double as an office. Four bedrooms are on the second level, and another bedroom is on the lower level.

“It has quite a lot of room,” Mr. Chin said. “It would serve multigenerational families.”

What they got

This 24-year-old house has open-concept living and dining areas, a separate family room with a gas fireplace and an eat-in kitchen with access to a back deck.

There are four bathrooms, including a five-piece, primary ensuite and a full bathroom in the basement.

Two cars can park in an attached garage and four can fit on the driveway on the 54- by 74-foot lot.

The agent’s take

“It’s a hidden gem within that neighbourhood,” Mr. Chin said.

“It’s very quiet, but when you turn around the corner, back on the main road, it gives you close access to the airport, restaurants, shopping and such.”
