Listing agent: Bill Thom, Re/Max Realtron Realty Inc.

Multiple buyers immediately presented offers to agent Bill Thom for this two-storey house, which is just one of a dozen or so homes backing onto a creek and parkland.

"It's a ravine lot … [with]a walkout basement," he says of its biggest draw, adding that the backyard has a lot of usable tableland.

This four-bedroom home, built in 1981, also has many features lacking in other Hillcrest Village properties. "It's one of the higher-end homes in the area," Mr. Thom says.

There is a main-floor den and extra living space on the lower level, complete with an office, games room and recreation room with pot lights, a wood-burning fireplace and rear exit.

"The basement is not just finished, but has 8.5-foot ceilings," the agent says. "Considering the age of the home … it's a very high basement."

Entertaining would primarily take place in the living room or formal dining room, which was decorated with wainscoting and moulded ceilings.

The rear eat-in kitchen and fireside family room both have walkouts to a deck.

A circular oak staircase leads to a second-floor landing to the bedrooms with parquet floors like those in the principal rooms.

The master suite has a walk-in closet and five-piece bathroom.

The house is also equipped with alarm and central vacuum systems, a newer high-efficiency gas furnace and an attached double garage.

The property is close to public transit, major highways, shops and schools. "It definitely belongs to a good school zone," says Mr. Thom, who makes special mention of the French immersion program at Cliffwood Public School.
