Most buyers touring this raised, red-brick bungalow were intrigued by its potential to generate rental income from the basement apartment, agent Bill Thom says.
"It's not that hard to come across, but it's really what people are looking for," he says.
Little work was needed before moving into this 31-year-old house, which had been outfitted with a new furnace, vinyl windows and upgraded doors in recent years.
As for cosmetic changes, the three bedrooms and principal rooms in the main unit were refinished with hardwood floors and crown mouldings. Plus, decorative columns were added between a combined living and dining area with sliding doors to a front balcony and an elevated family room.
"That is a bonus," the agent says. "These houses are not supposed to have a family room."
Also on this level is a remodelled bathroom and kitchen. "They even have granite countertops," Mr. Thom says.
There is a side entrance to the lower-level unit, which houses two bedrooms with laminate floors, including one with patio doors and a wood-burning fireplace, a carpeted living room, a kitchen with ceramic floors and a full bathroom and laundry appliances.
A single garage and driveway permits three-car parking on the property, which is within walking distance to schools, parks and shops throughout the mature neighbourhood. "It is steps to TTC [routes]and minutes to DVP, 401 and 404," Mr. Thom adds.
