The action
This five-bedroom house sparked some interest from buyers last summer, but no burning desire, and no offers. A $35,900 price cut reignited some of the dying embers, and finally, a solid offer – though one a further $59,000 below the new asking price – sealed the deal.
“We find the longer a home is on the market, the less [money] you’re going to end up with,” said agent Michael St. Jean.
“If there aren’t any bites, decreasing the price is something you want to do sooner rather than later … especially in a balanced or declining market, like ours has been in the last few years.”

The agent’s take
“This is a really nice, large property with two and a half storeys, and it was all brick,” Mr. St. Jean said.
“They’ve got the updates where they need them but preserved the character as well.”
The home is also close to Gage Park, schools, bus routes and the future LRT line.
“You can walk to a football game, you can walk to a park; it’s a nice spot,” said Mr. St. Jean.
“You also have some views of the escarpment if you’re outside walking on the street.”
