The action
This two-bedroom townhouse in Welland, southwest of Niagara Falls, came on the market priced at $599,900 during the last week of August. By the second day of September, two guests started purchase talks. The best offer, cleared of conditions in mid-September, came in at $610,000.
“We ended up having a couple of buyers swirling around at the same time, forcing the price over $600,000,” said agent Michael St. Jean.
“We don’t go in expecting that, but it’s a good product not readily available, and it’s a nice neighbourhood.”
The home’s single-storey design is common in the subdivision, called Merritt Meadows, but not in the surrounding area.
“In general, it’s a pretty sought-after type of product, hard to find in many areas of the Golden Horseshoe,” Mr. St. Jean said.
“The property itself is newer; it showed well and had a lot of upgrades.”
