What they got
This four-bedroom, two-bathroom rancher in a bare land strata complex was in great condition, with its original bathrooms and kitchen, wood floors, gas fireplace, arched entryways and tile floors in the hallways.
The house is in Kelowna’s Lower Mission neighbourhood on a 4,356 square-foot lot, close to all conveniences. It comes with a garage and RV storage. It is part of the Somerville Corner complex, which was built in 2004 and is surrounded by park space and tree-lined streets.

The action
When it was first listed, the house only had two bedrooms. The sellers renovated in 2022, removing a third bedroom and making a larger open living space.
Agent Richard Deacon listed the unit in May and showed it to 47 groups, all of whom said they wished it had a third bedroom. So, the seller took the property off the market, added two bedrooms with closets and relisted in October.
After an open house and three private showings, the sellers received a cash offer, with two more interested parties waiting on the sidelines.

The agent’s take
The sellers had purchased the unit in 2022, but were selling to upsize to a bigger house with a view, Mr. Deacon said. The owners were wise to renovate and add bedrooms, the agent said. The right number of bedrooms and location made it a quick sell.
“The buyers were looking for a rancher in the most desirable walkable beach neighbourhood of Lower Mission, close to the lake.”
The deal completed Nov. 13.
