The donor: Craig Trenholm

The gift: Raising $300,000 and climbing

The cause: Peel Children's Aid Foundation

When Craig Trenholm got involved with the Peel Children's Aid Foundation in Mississauga a few years ago, he immediately began revamping the organization's fundraising efforts.

"I just saw an opportunity to give it a facelift," recalled Mr. Trenholm, who is a vice-president at commercial real estate specialists Cushman & Wakefield.

That led to the creation of Men Behaving Boldly, an annual fundraising event that encourages men to get involved with helping abused, neglected and at-risk children and youth in the Toronto region. The gala is into its ninth year and has raised about $300,000 in total. This year's event will be held in November, and Mr. Trenholm is hoping to raise as much as $100,000.

He said the organization plans to expand the event by adding a female version and broadening participation beyond the real estate sector.

"It's pretty exciting," he said. "It has been very rewarding and humbling."
