Christy Clark, radio journalist

Christy Clark was born and raised in Metro Vancouver, where she has an extensive track record of community involvement and leadership for British Columbia's families. Ms. Clark studied political science at Simon Fraser University, religious studies at the University of Edinburgh, and at the Sorbonne.



In 1996, she was elected to the B.C. legislature, where as an Opposition MLA, she distinguished herself as a passionate champion for children. Appointed minister of education and deputy premier in 2001, Ms. Clark improved accountability and outcomes in the school system. In her subsequent role as minister of children and family development, she increased child-care funding.



Ms. Clark retired from politics in 2005 to spend more time with her family.



She is now host of the Christy Clark Show on CKNW, B.C.'s most listened-to radio station. Ms. Clark has received several recent honours and nominations, including a 2009 YWCA Women of Distinction Award and the 2008 Peter Gzowski Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association of Canada.
