Cinar Corp., the children's entertainment company sold recently for about $144-million to a group headed by Toronto animation executive Michael Hirsh, has been taken private under a new name and with a new mandate and two new partners. The Montreal-based company has been folded into the Cookie Jar Group, the new banner for a global children's entertainment, education and marketing company, according to a news release. Mr. Hirsh said in a statement he and his partners look forward to acquiring more companies in the educational and children's entertainment sectors. The partnership has been expanded to include the private equity arm of Toronto-Dominion Bank and former Nelvana executive Toper Taylor. The partnership also includes Steve and Patty Carson, the founders of Cinar's U.S. educational publishing division Carson-Dellosa Publishing.
