Germany reports current account, trade balance data for March.

Trican Well Service Ltd. reports first-quarter results. Analysts expect per share profit of 15 cents, up from 8 cents a year ago.

U.S. Department of Commerce reports on wholesale inventories for March. An increase of 0.5 per cent is expected, compared with a gain of 0.6 per cent in February.

Britain reports industrial production for March.

George Weston Ltd. reports first-quarter results. Analysts expect per share profit of 65 cents, up from 61 cents a year ago.

Other companies expected to report earnings include Allied Properties REIT, Arctic Glacier Income Fund, Boralex, CAP REIT, Dundee Wealth Management, Essential Energy Services Trust, Hemisphere GPS, Hitachi, Keyera Facilities Income Fund, Macquarie Power and Infrastructure, Northern Property REIT, Peak Energy Services Trust and Walt Disney.

Wednesday, May 12

Statistics Canada reports on international merchandise trade for March. A surplus of $1.6-billion is forecast, up from $1.4-billion in February.

The U.S. Treasury Department releases its monthly budget statement for April. A deficit of $20-billion (U.S.) is forecast, compared with a deficit of $20.9-billion the previous month.

U.S. Department of Commerce reports on the trade balance for March. A trade deficit of $39.9-billion (U.S.) is forecast, compared with a deficit of $39.7-billion in February.

Germany reports preliminary reading of first quarter GDP, EU reports industrial production for March and final reading of fourth-quarter GDP.

Britain reports unemployment for March.

Quebecor Inc. reports first-quarter results. Analysts expect per share profit of 79 cents, up from 67 cents a year ago.

Other companies expected to report earnings include Artis REIT, Cisco Systems, Eastern Platinum, Franco-Nevada, Freehold Royalty Trust, Hydrogenics Corp., Jaguar Mining, Macy's, Nissan, Rona, Russel Metals, ThyssenKrupp and Trinidad Drilling.

The U.S. Department of Labour releases initial jobless claims data for the week ended May 8. Economists expect 432,000 claims, down from 444,000 the previous week.

Japan reports current account, trade balance for March.

Britain reports trade balance for March.

Canadian Tire reports first-quarter results. Analysts expect per share profit of 55 cents, down from 61 cents a year ago.

Other companies expected to report earnings include Blockbuster, BT Group, CAE, Chartwell Seniors Housing REIT, Cineplex Galaxy Income Fund, Finning International, Flint Energy Services, FNX Mining Co., Intermap Technologies, Points International, Savannah Energy Services, Sony, Tim Hortons and Wendy's/Arby's Group.

Statscan posts manufacturing sales figures for March.

U.S. Department of Commerce reports advance retail sales for April.

U.S. Federal Reserve Board reports on industrial production and capacity utilization in April.

The University of Michigan issues its preliminary report on U.S. consumer sentiment in May.

U.S. Department of Commerce reports on business inventories for March.

Jazz Air Income Fund reports first-quarter results. Analysts expect per share profit of 7 cents, down from 17 cents a year ago.

Other companies expected to report earnings include JC Penney.
