Commodities weigh on TSX
The Toronto stock market edged lower, pulled down by energy stocks with the sector off 1.3 per cent amid concerns over demand. The April crude oil contract slipped $1.44 to $79.80 (U.S.) a barrel. Canadian Natural Resources declined 2 per cent and Suncor fell 2.5 per cent.

WallStreet gains in final hour
U.S. stocks erased losses near the close as financial shares reversed declines and consumer companies rallied on an analyst upgrade of Wal-Mart and PepsiCo's plan to return more money to investors. Wal-Mart gained 2.8 per cent and PepsiCo added 1.6 per cent.

Investors cautious ahead of Fed meeting
Investors will be looking to the U.S. Federal Reserve's statement that follows its meeting today for clues about the recovery and the central bank's plans for interest rates. Any signs that the move will be made sooner rather than later could hurt stocks.
