CIBC World Markets began rebuilding its energy research team on Monday by luring veteran oil and gas analyst Andrew Potter back from UBS Securities.
The investment banking arm of CIBC lost three oil and gas analysts in the last six months, with veterans departing for rival firms and industry players.
Mr. Potter is coming back after a five year absence to cover senior oil and gas producers, and the major Alberta oil sands companies. He covered domestic junior oil and gas companies at CIBC until 2005, when he moved to UBS Securities.
