The Institute of Supply Management's manufacturing index, which tracks the amount of U.S. manufacturing activity, is expected to slip to 57.8 in February from 58.4 in January. Any reading above 50 indicates an expanding manufacturing sector. The ISM prices paid index, which represents business sentiment regarding future inflation, is expected to slip to 68.1 from 70.
The U.S. Department of Commerce reports on construction spending for January. Economists expect a drop of 0.5 per cent.

U.S. Labour reports on initial jobless claims for the week ended Feb. 27. Economists forecast 475,000 claims, down from 496,000 claims a week earlier. Continuing claims for the week ended Feb. 20 will also be reported.
The U.S. Department of Commerce reports on factory orders for January. An increase in orders of 1.2 per cent is expected, compared with a 1-per-cent gain the previous month.
The U.S. National Association of Realtors reports on pending home sales for January. Sales are expected to have climbed 1.5 per cent month-over-month.

Economists expect non-farm payrolls to decline by 50,000, manufacturing payrolls to fall by 20,000, and a jobless rate of 9.8 per cent, up from 9.7 per cent the previous month. It also reports on average hourly earnings, expected to rise 0.2 per cent month-over-month and 2.2 per cent year-over-year; and average weekly hours worked, pegged at 33.7 hours.
The U.S. Federal Reserve Board reports on consumer credit in January. Economists expect a drop of $3.8-billion (U.S.), compared with a decrease of $1.7-billion the previous month.
