The Toronto Blue Jays got right-handed pitcher Jameson Taillon and cash considerations in a trade with the Chicago Cubs on Sunday.
Chicago will get a player to be named later or cash considerations.
In a corresponding move, Toronto moved infielder Lenyn Sosa to its 60-day injured list.
Taillon, 34, has a 5.92 earned-run average over 15 starts with the Cubs this season.
Major League Baseball’s trade deadline is Monday at 6 p.m. ET.
Taillon was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates second overall in the 2010 first-year player draft. He made his Major League Baseball debut for the Pirates in 2016.
The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Taillon has suited up for 239 career MLB games (238 starts) between the Pirates, New York Yankees, and Cubs. He has a career 84-66 record with a 3.99 ERA.
Although born in Florida, Taillon has represented Canada at both the 2013 and 2026 World Baseball Classic, making a pair of starts and surrendering two earned runs over 7.2 combined frames (2.35 ERA) with six strikeouts.
