George Springer hit a leadoff home run as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Miami Marlins 5-4 on Monday in a six-inning Grapefruit League game at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.

Springer also scored on a wild pitch in the third inning before Daulton Varsho hit a two-run double. Myles Straw added an RBI groundout that capped a four-run inning.

Otto Lopez and Daniel Johnson homered for Miami, with Johnson’s solo shot in the fifth pulling the Marlins within a run.

Blue Jays reliever Jesse Hahn earned the save after right-fielder RJ Schreck threw out Chris Arroyo at the plate in the bottom of the sixth.

Also Monday, the Blue Jays optioned outfielder Jonatan Clase to the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons roster.

The team also assigned left-handers Javen Coleman and Michael Plassmeyer, catcher Geovanny Planchart and infielders Sean Keys, Charles McAdoo and Arjun Nimmala to minor-league camp.

Toronto (9-12) next hosts the Baltimore Orioles (8-11) on Wednesday in Dunedin, Fla.

The Jays open the regular season at Rogers Centre on March 27 against the visiting Athletics.
