Fans gather to watch the Montreal Victoire and the Toronto Sceptres warm up before a PWHL hockey game in Vancouver, Jan. 8.Ethan Cairns/The Canadian Press

The Toronto Sceptres are playoff-bound.

Coming off of a disappointing 3-0 loss to the Boston Fleet on Saturday, the Sceptres were bumped into the postseason picture thanks to a New York Sirens’ victory over the Minnesota Frost on Sunday.

The Sceptres were the PWHL’s top team in the league’s inaugural season last year, but fell in the semi-final to the Frost.

The Sceptres (12 wins, two overtime wins, five overtime losses, nine losses; 45 points) join the league-leading Montreal Victoire (11-6-3-8; 48 points) in the playoff picture. The Sceptres host the N.Y. Sirens on Tuesday at Coca-Cola Coliseum and close out their regular season play on May 3 with the Ottawa Charge visiting.
