The Toronto Blue Jays are recalling left-hander Patrick Corbin from Single-A Dunedin and placing outfielder Addison Barger on the injured list.

Barger sprained his left ankle in a game against the Chicago White Sox on Sunday when he tried to leg out an infield single. His move to the IL is retroactive to Monday.

The 36-year-old Corbin, who signed a one-year contract with the Blue Jays last week, is a 13-year veteran who was 7-11 with a 4.40 earned-run average for the Texas Rangers last season.

The Blue Jays are also designating left-hander Josh Fleming for assignment and recalling infielder Tyler Fitzgerald from Triple-A Buffalo.

Corbin and Fitzgerald will be active for Tuesday night’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Rogers Centre.

The 4-6 Blue Jays enter play on a five-game losing streak.
