The Toronto Blue Jays continue to tinker with their roster, on Wednesday claiming right-handed pitcher Taylor Buchholz off waivers from the Colorado Rockies.
The 28-year-old Buchholz appeared in seven games, all in relief, for the Rockies this season, going 1-0 with a 4.50 earned-run average after missing all of 2009 recovering from Tommy John surgery.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound player spent the early part of 2010 in the minors primarily in Triple-A at Colorado Springs, recording a 1-1 record with a 5.06 ERA in 21 games, including one start.
In total, Buchholz has appeared in 133 games at the Major League level, including 21 starts over four seasons with both Colorado and Houston, posting a 19-21 mark with a 4.42 ERA.
Buchholz will report to the Blue Jays and the American League club have moved pitcher Jesse Litsch, who is recovering from hip surgery, to the 60-day disabled list to make room on the 40-man roster.
