Although it took a while, a Canadian was finally selected in Major League Baseball's first–year player draft.
The honour went to Eric Wood, who was chosen by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the sixth round with the 196th pick overall.
In total, nine Canadians were selected on the second day of the draft, which will conclude on Wednesday.

David Otterman, a left-handed pitcher from Coquitlam, B.C., was the next Canadian off the board when the Milwaukee Brewers chose him in the seventh round (245th overall), out of the University of British Columbia.
A trio of junior Canadian national team grads went next as Vancouver catcher Rowan Wick went to the St. Louis Cardinals in the 9th round (300), out of Cypress Junior College; right-handed pitcher Jeff Gibbs from Toronto went three picks later to the Arizona Diamondbacks, out of the University of Maine; and Toronto infielder Maxx Tissenbaum landed with the San Diego Padres in the 11th round, (345) out of Stony Brook University.
Toronto's Johnny Caputo became the first current member of Canada's junior national team to be taken with the third baseman going to Oakland in the 12th round (379).
He was followed by junior national team player Ryan Kellogg of Whitby, Ont., a left-handed pitcher who went to the Toronto Blue Jays, also in the 12th round (385).
Dayton Dawe of London, Ont., became the third current member of the junior national team to be drafted as he went to the New York Yankees in the 15th round (487)
