The Toronto Blue Jays announced they have signed free agent infielder Nick Green to a Major League contract on Friday.
Green, 31, hit .125 (1-8) with one run-batted-in in five games this season with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The right-handed hitter spent the majority of the season in Triple-A with Albuquerque of the Pacific Coast League, hitting .204 with two home runs, two triples, nine doubles and 10 RBI.
The native of Pensacola, Fla., has played for six teams in his career; the Atlanta Braves in 2004; the Tampa Bay Rays in 2005-06; the New York Yankees in 2006; Seattle Mariners in 2007; the Boston Red Sox in 2009 before moving on to the Dodgers.
To make room on the 25-man roster the Blue Jays optioned infielder Mike McCoy to their Triple-A Las Vegas affiliate.
