Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Yunel Escobar has been scratched from tonight's game against the Boston Red Sox.
The American League team announced that Escobar, obtained on July 14 in a trade with the Atlanta Braves, has come up with a sore right knee and the decision was made to keep him on the bench.
Veteran John McDonald will start at shortstop in his place.
Escobar has played well since arriving in Toronto, with a .298 batting average in 19 games with three home runs and 19 runs batted in.
