Turning point

After Aaron Hill got the Blue Jays out of a jam in the top of the fourth, using a barehanded grab to turn a double play, Jose Bautista's two-run shot in the bottom of the inning put the visitors behind by three and the Yankees never threatened again.

Offensive player

Bautista's two monster shots to left field gave him 18 home runs - a career-high -putting him on top of the pile in the American League.

Pitching Starter

A.J. Burnett's second return to Rogers Centre with New York was even worse than the first. After lasting 7 2/3 innings in a 5-1 loss last year, the former Blue Jays starter lasted only six this time around, earning six runs in the process. Toronto starter Brett Cecil gave up just one earned run in picking up his fourth consecutive victory.

NOTES

Mike Wilner, the third person in the booth during Blue Jays broadcasts on Toronto all-sports radio station the Fan 590, was not working Friday's game. According to various sources, Wilner has been suspended for the weekend by his company after the Blue Jays complained following a heated exchange he had with Toronto manager Cito Gaston on Wednesday. Rogers Communications owns of both the Fan and the Blue Jays. Jays spokesman Jay Stenhouse said the team had nothing to do with the matter. "He's an employee of the Fan 590 and any decisions or comments should come from them."
