NOTES When it's going good, it's going good. And that's certainly the case for Toronto's Jose Bautista, who leads the majors in home runs. Bautista, in his first at-bat, swatted the ball over the head of Baltimore right fielder Nick Markakis in the first inning. The ball struck the wall on the fly and scooted away from Markakis, allowing Bautista to chug into third with a run-scoring triple. The relay throw from Scott Moore was wide of the target and got away from Baltimore third baseman Miguel Tejada for an error, allowing Bautista to trot home with the inning's third run. … Fred Lewis, the Toronto leadoff hitter, was back starting in left field after missing two games with a sore bunion on his left foot. Toronto manager Cito Gaston said he had to get fluid drained from it to reduce the inflammation. ... The horrible Orioles have not won a road series since Sept. 11 to 13, 2009, in New York against the Yankees. The Orioles are 7-28 in their previous 35 road games. … Toronto's Aaron Hill, who has been almost invisible this year with his bat, received some added hitting instruction from manager Cito Gaston and hitting coach Dwayne Murphy before the game. Hill is obviously a fast learner as he knocked in two runs off two hits, including a solo home run in the sixth inning, his seventh of the year. Vernon Wells also chipped in with a homer (No. 12) in the same inning.
