No. 12 Georgetown 73, No. 13 Connecticut 69

At Washington, Austin Freeman scored 28 of his career-high 33 points in the second half, helping No. 12 Georgetown erase a 15-point halftime deficit in a 73-69 victory over No. 13 Connecticut on Saturday.

Greg Monroe added 15 points and 10 rebounds for Georgetown (12-2, 3-1 Big East), while Chris Wright scored 14 points. Stanley Robinson led UConn (11-4, 2-2) with 16 points and eight rebounds.

No. 2 Texas 103, Colorado 86

At Austin, Tex., Freshman Avery Bradley scored 29 points and Texas won its Big 12 opener to improve to 15-0 for the first time since the 1932-33

Damion James added 20 points and 14 rebounds for the Longhorns.

Marcus Relphorde scored 24 points for the Buffaloes (9-6, 0-1). They dropped their 22nd consecutive road game overall and their 30th in the Big 12.

No. 3 Kentucky 76, Georgia 68

At Lexington, Ky., Patrick Patterson and John Wall scored 17 points each, and DeMarcus Cousins added 16 points and seven rebounds for Kentucky in the Southeastern Conference opener for both schools.

At 16-0, the Wildcats are off to their best start since winning 23 games to open the 1965-66 season. Travis Leslie had 20 points for the Bulldogs (8-6).

No. 17 Wisconsin 73, No. 4 Purdue 66

At Madison, Wisc., Jordan Taylor scored a career-high 23 points and Wisconsin handed Purdue its first loss of the season.

Jason Bohannon added a career-high 20 points for Wisconsin (13-3, 3-1).

E'Twaun Moore scored 24 points for Purdue (14-1, 2-1). Purdue's 14-0 start tied the best in school history, but both the 1993-94 squad led by Glenn Robinson and this year's had their streaks end in Madison.

No. 20 Georgia Tech 71, No. 5 Duke 67

At Atlanta, Gani Lawal scored 21 points, including a crucial shot with just over a minute remaining, for Georgia Tech (12-3, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference).

The Yellow Jackets (12-3, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) made up for their 73-66 loss to state rival Georgia on Tuesday night.

Jon Scheyer led Duke (13-2, 1-1) with 25 points.

No. 6 Villanova 78, Marquette 76

At Villanova, Penn., Corey Stokes scored 16 points for Villanova after missing a game because of a hamstring injury.

The Wildcats (14-1, 3-0 Big East) surged to a 22-point lead early in the second half, then held on for the win. Lazar Hayward led Marquette (10-6, 1-3) with 20 points.

Notre Dame 70, No. 8 W. Virginia 68

At South Bend, Ind., Da'Sean Butler's 3-point attempt for West Virginia at the buzzer rolled around the rim and out fell out, giving Notre Dame the victory.

Luke Harangody led the Fighting Irish (14-3, 3-1 Big East) with 24 points.

Kevin Jones had 17 points for the Mountaineers (12-2, 3-1).

No. 10 Michigan St. 71, Iowa 53

At Iowa City, Draymond Green had 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Kalin Lucas also scored 14 points for Michigan State.

The Spartans (13-3, 3-0 Big Ten) opened the second half with a 12-0 run that buried the last-place Hawkeyes (5-11, 0-4). Matt Gatens had 16 points for Iowa.

Missouri 74, No. 11 Kansas St. 68

At Columbia, Md., Marcus Denmon scored nine of his 14 points in the final 6 minutes, and Zaire Taylor hit a big 3-pointer late for Missouri (13-3) in the Big 12 opener for both teams.

Jacob Pullen scored 21 points for Kansas State (13-2).

Mississippi State 80, No. 14 Mississippi 75

At Oxford, Miss., Dee Bost matched his career high with 25 points for Mississippi State (13-3) in the Southeastern Conference opener for both teams.

Chris Warren led Ole Miss (12-3) with 15 points.

UNLV 74, No. 15 New Mexico 62

At Albuquerque, N.M., Kendall Wallace made six of his seven 3-pointers in the second half and finished with a career-high 21 points to help UNLV (13-3, 1-1 Mountain West) end New Mexico's 19-game home winning streak.

Dairese Gary scored 17 points for New Mexico (14-3, 0-2).

No. 19 Gonzaga 81, Portland 78

At Portland, Ore., Matt Bouldin had 20 points and nine assists and Gonzaga beat Portland for the 13th straight time.

Freshman Elias Harris had 18 points for Gonzaga (2-3) in the West Coast Conference opener for both teams. Jared Stohl led the Pilots (9-6) with 18 points.

Oklahoma St. 81, No. 22 Texas Tech 52

At Stillwater, Okla., James Anderson scored 25 of his 28 points in the first half and Oklahoma State beat Texas Tech in the Big 12 opener for both teams.

Anderson, the Big 12's scoring leader, had 16 points during a 29-1 charge in the first half that turned a six-point deficit into a 44-22 lead for the Cowboys (13-2).

Mike Singletary scored 13 points for Texas Tech (12-3).

No. 25 BYU 83, UTEP 77

At El Paso, Tex., Tyler Haws scored 20 points to help BYU improve to 16-1.

Jeremy Williams had 17 points for UTEP (10-4).
