The Memphis Grizzlies have signed eight-time All-Star Vince Carter to a multiyear contract.
Carter averaged 11.9 points in 81 games, all off the bench, last season for the Dallas Mavericks. The 37-year-old guard has scored 20.2 points per game over his 16-year career.
Terms of the deal announced early Saturday morning were not disclosed.
Carter moved into 25th place on the NBA's career scoring list last season, and the player once known best as a dunker also is now seventh all-time in 3-pointers made. He led the league last season with 146 off the bench.
While he left on a sour note, many Raptors fans were disappointed Carter didn't sign with Toronto:
In other news, disappointed to see Vince Carter sign w Memphis. Would have been special for him to finish his career in Toronto. @Raptors
