The Canadian national women's team will play two exhibition games against defending World Cup-champion Germany, the Canadian Soccer Association announced Tuesday.

Germany will the first contest Sept. 10 with the second game to be played in Canada in 2011.

"It is important that we continue to improve our international experience," national coach Carolina Morace said in a statement. "Germany is a team with a long history as one of the best teams in Europe and in the world."

Canada's trip to Germany in September will be the team's first there since April 2005. The 2011 contest will be played following the FIFA Women's World Cup, which concludes July 17.

Germany has won the last two FIFA Women's World Cup events and will host the 2011 tournament.

Canada is bidding for the 2015 event.
