Montreal Alouettes coach Marc Trestman is among a shortlist of candidates to take over the reigns of the University of Miami Hurricanes according to a report in Saturday's Miami Herald.
Trestman, 54, has coached the Grey Cup champion Als for three consecutive seasons. Montreal repeated as Grey Cup champions defeating the Saskatchewan Roughriders in both the 2009 and 2010 CFL Championship games.
Ahead of last month's Grey Cup game Trestman deflected questions about his possible move to Miami.
Miami athletic director Kirby Hocutt was rumoured to have traveled to North Carolina on Saturday to meet with Trestman.
Trestman seems a perfect fit for the position as he has extensive experience coaching in South Florida both at the collegiate and professional level.
He was a University of Miami assistant coach between 1981 and 1984 and also has experience as an assistant in the NFL between 1985 and 2004, acting as the Dolphins quarterbacks coach in 2004.
Temple University coach Al Golden, University of Connecticut's Randy Edsall and Texas Tech boss Tommy Tuberville are the other three candidates named.
