The Edmonton Eskimos are hoping Brandon James will be a difference-maker in the CFL.
The Eskimos signed the former NCAA star to be a kick returner on Thursday. James set a number of records during his collegiate career at Florida, where he helped the school to a national title in 2007 and was twice named an All-SEC player.
"In a highly competitive league like ours, special teams are often the difference in winning closing games," said Eskimos GM Eric Tillman. "With his speed and elusiveness, we believe Brandon has a chance to be an explosive talent. ... We're hoping Brandon will generate an abundance of excitement and big plays."
James signed with the NFL's Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent last year and appeared in three regular-season games.
