The father of Hamilton Tiger-Cats third-string quarterback Adam Tafralis was hospitalized last Thursday, when the family's home in San Bruno, Calif., was consumed in a fire resulting from a natural-gas line explosion that reportedly killed four people and destroyed over 38 homes.



Tafralis, who attended high school in Millbrea, Calif., before going to San Jose State University, is expected to handle his usual duties as holder for field goals and converts on Saturday, against the Montreal Alouettes.



"He'll leave after the game and take as long as he needs to take care of things," Hamilton head coach Marcel Bellefeuille said.



A Ticats spokesman said Gregg Tafralis was is non-life-threatening condition. Tafralis's teammates are taking up a collection to pay for his airfare.

Alouettes linebacker Walter Spencer has been moved out of intensive care after undergoing surgery for stab wounds sustained in an incident outside a Montreal bar last Monday. Spencer was stabbed in the chest. The incident is under investigation.
