This weekend, the fighting Phénix from College André-Grasset in Montreal's north end will play for a provincial crown, but their offensive co-ordinator may have his mind on other things.

The University of Montreal announced this week it is not renewing head coach Marc Santerre's contract, and there is rampant speculation that former Edmonton Eskimos head man Danny Maciocia is about to be named as his replacement.

After he was fired as general manager of the Eskimos this summer, Maciocia expressed an interest in perhaps coaching university-level football, and it appears that opportunity may be about to present itself.

He may have to win over a few people, several unhappy players have called a news conference for Friday to condemn Santerre's ouster.
