Danny Sahl of Sherwood Park, Alta., birdied two of his last three holes to take a two stroke lead after three rounds of the Canadian Tour's Syncrude Boreal Open.

Sahl, looking for his first career Canadian Tour win, had a shaky start Saturday, with bogeys on two of his first three holes. However, he rebounded with seven birdies the rest of the way for a 5-under 67 and a three day total of 14-under par.

American Brett Kanda, who earned his card at the 2011 California Winter Qualifying School, posted a bogey-free round of 65 to sit all alone in second place at 12-under.

Roger Sloan of Merritt, B.C., who started the day with the lead, bogied the 18th to leave him with a 71, three shots behind Sahl.

Dustin Risdon of Calgary is alone in fourth after carding a 69 to sit five off the pace.

Pre-tournament favourite Adam Hadwin of Abbotsford, B.C., made up some ground on Saturday with five birdies, one bogey and one double bogey for a round of 70 and a three day total of 3-under.
