Andy Matthews captured his first Canadian Tour title yesterday, winning the Corona Mazatlan Mexican PGA Championship by two shots.

The 30-year-old American was the runner-up at the event last year after he lost a sudden-death playoff to Mauricio Molina.

Yesterday, at the El Cid Golf and Country Club in Mazatlan, Mexico, he tidied up the win in regulation. Matthews shot four-under-par 68 to finish at 16-under 272, two clear of Jose de Jesus Rodriguez of Mexico.

Wes Heffernan and Ryan Yip were the low Canadians. The Calgarians both finished at 12 under, tied for fourth place.
