Triple bogeys threatened to derail a couple of Canadians at Q-School on Friday with the Panther Lake Course coming back to bite several others. However, both Chris Baryla and Matt McQuillan managed to survive the on-course blunders to remain in contention through three rounds of the PGA Tour qualifying tournament.

Baryla, who started the day atop the leaderboard, suffered a triple-bogey seven on the par-4 12th hole at the Panther Lake Course, virtually wiping away his overnight lead. A bogey on No. 15 put him four over for the day before he began to claw his way back out of the red numbers. Four birdies over the next eight holes brought him back to 1-over but a bogey on No. 9, his finishing hole for the day, left him with a 73. He currently sits in a tie for sixth with three rounds to go to secure his full playing status for 2011.

Matt McQuillan of Kingston, Ont., had a triple bogey and a double bogey out on the Panther Lake Course as well. However, five birdies helped cancel out those strokes, leaving him 1-over for the day and 5-under for the tournament and tied for 27th, which is just outside the top 25 and ties cut line for a 2011 Tour card.

Vancouver's Richard T. Lee slipped down the leaderboard, thanks to a bogey-triple bogey on the front nine of the Panther Lake Course. Two bridies on the back nine enabled him to salvage a 73 but still sent him tumbling down into a tie for 86th.

Matthew Richardson of Woodbridge, Ont., had four bogeys in six holes on the front nine on his way to a 73. That dropped him more than 30 places down into a tie for 86th.

Jon Mills of Belleville, Ont., posted his second straight round of 71 to move up into a tie for 86th.

Peterborough's Ted Brown just missed breaking 70 for the first time this week, thanks in large part to an eagle-3 on the par-5 17th of the Crooked Cat Course. He sits tied for 118th after a round of 2-under.

For the first time in three days, David McKenzie had more birdies than bogeys on his scorecard. The Victoria, B.C. golfer came up with his best round of the week, a 1-under 71, to improve to a tie for 128th. That still leaves him about 10 strokes behind the cut line for a Tour card and three days to get to that number.

Ben Martin, a runner-up at the 2009 U.S. Amateur Championship, is the leader by three strokes over fellow Clemson alumni Kyle Stanley.
