Montreal's Yohann Benson is in position to advance to the final qualifying stage of PGA Tour Q-School after shooting 2-under 70 on Thursday for a three round total of 1-over par at the Redstone Golf Club at Humble,Texas.

With one round left, Benson is tied for 15th with only the top 19 and ties advancing to the final qualifying stage next month.

Danny Sahl of Sherwood Park, Alta., came up with his best round of the week, a 3-under 69, which leaves him tied for 23rd just two strokes off the cut line.

At the Bear Lake Golf Club in Murrieta, Calif., Richard Lee of Vancouver carded a second round 73 which dropped him out of the lead and into a tie for fourth place.

Matt McQuillan of Kingston, Ont., shot a 71 and sits tied for 12th while David McKenzie of Victoria also carded a 71 to sit in a tie for 24th. Mitch Gillis of Williams Lake, B.C., came up with a second straight 74 to leave him tied for 46th while Calgary's Ryan Yip struggled to an 82 to fall all the way down into a tie for 69th.

The top 20 golfers plus ties from this event will advance.

At the Bayonet Course at Seaside, Calif., Adam Hadwin of Abbotsford, B.C., had a round of 73, which included an eagle on the 18th - his ninth hole of the day after starting on No. 10 - that left him 3-under at that point. However, over the course of the final nine holes, he had four bogeys to leave him in a tie for 33rd.

Chris Baryla of Vernon, B.C., posted a 72 and is tied for 43rd while Brennan Webb of Bracebridge, Ont., carded a 74 to leave him in a tie for 47th. Winnipeg's Adam Speirs was tied for 58th after a round of 75 and Saskatoon's Kent Eger sits 71st after shooting 74.

The top 19 plus ties advance from this tournament to the final stage.

At the Southern Hills Plantation Club at Brooksville, Fla., Bryan DeCorso, Guelph, Ont., is tied for 23rd after shooting a second round 70. Matt Richardson of Woodbridge, Ont., also posted a 70 but sits tied for 47th while Cam Burke of New Hamburg, Ont., shot 72 and sits tied for 54th. Only the top 19 and ties from this qualifier will move on to the next stage.

At the Hombre Golf Club at Panama City, Fla., Ted Brown of Peterborough, Ont., slipped to a 74 on Thursday which dropped him down into a tie for 41st. The top 19 and ties advance to the next stage and Brown needs to make up five strokes over the next two days to get into that group.

At the TPC Craig Ranch at McKinney, Texas, Calgary's James Love came up with a 68 to move into a tie for 20th, which would be enough to get him into the final stage. Peter Laws of Mississauga, Ont., had a 73 to leave him tied for 62nd.
