Anthony Kim says he will make his return to golf at next week's World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational. It will be his first Tour appearance in three months.

Kim made the announcement on his Facebook page, saying "I will be back next week at wgc.. looking forward to being back."

Kim underwent surgery to repain a torn ligament in his left thum following the Quail Hollow Championship in May. At the time, doctors put his recovery at 10-to-12 weeks. Kim started hitting golf balls again in early July and there was a chance he would make his return at last week's Canadian Open but doctors advised against it.

Prior to the surgery, Kim had been one of the top players on the Tour, winning the Shell Houston Open and recording three other top-10 finishes.

Kim's return will also solidify his Ryder Cup standing. He is currently in fourth place in the points, having lost just two spots since being sidelined by the surgery. The top eight players on the points list after next month's PGA Championship will automatically earn berths to the Ryder Cup team.

Tiger Woods has also confirmed his participation in the event. If there was any venue or event where the world number one could get his season - and career - back on track, it's Firestone. He is the defending champion and a seven-time winner of the World Golf Championship.

"It's one of the best courses we play all year," Woods said in a statement on his website. "Everything is right in front of you."

Woods won last year by rallying to beat Padraig Harrington, becoming the first player to win a PGA Tour event seven times on the same course.
