Fans that attend the RBC Canadian Open will also be helping to support the event's philanthropic mandate. Proceeds from the 2011 RBC Canadian Open in Vancouver will help support the event's national charity partner – the Mike Weir Foundation – as well as a local community beneficiary to be named early in 2011. The event's philanthropic platform is based on a joint commitment between Golf Canada and title sponsor RBC to generate $5 million for charity over the first five years of RBC's sponsorship.
One of Canada's most renowned courses, Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club will be hosting Canada's national open championship in conjunction with the club's centennial celebration.
In addition to watching the best players in the world compete for Canada's national title, golf fans onsite at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club will be treated to family and junior golf activities throughout tournament week.
For any individuals interested in taking part in the 2011 RBC Canadian Open, Golf Canada and Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club are currently recruiting volunteers for a multitude of positions.
A total of 1,700 volunteers from within the community and across Canada help to make the RBC Canadian Open a success and while the volunteer recruitment is well underway, a number of positions are still available.
