The second stage of the PGA Tour's Q-school begins Tuesday with 18 Canadians still in the running for 2011 cards.

The Canuck contingent is led by Adam Hadwin, an emerging star from Abbottsford, B.C., who's wrapping up his first full year as a professional. The 23-year-old former member of the national amateur team is coming off the biggest victory of his pro career at the Canadian Tour's Desert Dunes Classic this month.

Cam Burke, another amateur standout before joining the professional ranks this year, is also competing in the second stage.

The second stage is contested at six sites throughout the southern United States. Play kicks off Tuesday at the Redstone Golf Club in Humble, Tex., with Canadian Tour regulars Yohann Benson and Danny Sahl in the field.

The other five sites launch play on Wednesday. Some of the other notable Canadians teeing it up are Nationwide Tour winner Bryan DeCorso, Canadian Tour champions Ryan Yip and Kent Eger, and PGA Tour member Chris Baryla.

Baryla of Vernon, B.C., has been injured for much of 2010 and will carry forward his PGA card at least into the early part of 2011. But he could secure a full-year guarantee on the big tour through Q-school.

The top 20 to 25 at each site after 72 holes advance to Q-school's third and final stage in December.

Meanwhile, the Champions Tour starts the final stage of its Q-school on Tuesday. Jim Rutledge is the lone player in the field of 78 carrying the Maple Leaf.

Rutledge, 51, finished in 54th on the senior circuit's money list this year, with $290,000 (U.S.) in winnings, but that wasn't enough to earn full-time status.

In Q-school at TPC Eagle Trace in Coral Springs, Fla., Rutledge will need to finish in the top five to secure a card for 2011. Although, finishing in the top 30 at least guarantees him the opportunity to enter qualifying tournaments for each Champions event.

Among the other notables teeing it up are PGA Tour winners Fulton Allem and Bobby Clampett, Zach Johnson's caddy Damon Green and former Asian Tour star Frankie Minoza.
