Drew Doughty was injured almost as soon as the game started Saturday and the Los Angeles Kings defenseman will miss a week to 10 days, the team said.

Doughty's injury is not to his head, general manager Dean Lombardi said in an email to the Los Angeles Times, but the team did not reveal the specific nature of the upper-body injury.

Doughty was drilled by Philadelphia Flyers forward Zac Rinaldo 20 seconds into the game. He appeared in one more shift.

The defenseman had a concussion last season, but along with Lombardi's email, there were other indications the injury was not to his head.

As he sat on the bench Saturday, the Times reported, Doughty was seen favoring his shoulder.
