The Toronto Maple Leafs signed defenceman Martin Marincin to a one-year contract Thursday.

Toronto acquired the 23-year-old Marincin from the Edmonton Oilers last month for forward Brad Ross and a 2015 fourth-round pick.

Marincin, a native of Kosice, Slovakia, had a goal and 10 assists in 85 career games over two seasons with Edmonton.

Marincin also played for Slovakia at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi.

Edmonton selected Marincin in the second round. No. 46 overall, of the 2010 NHL entry draft.
